Painting exhibition to conclude today

T’Puram,  ‘’I love to paint women, because you can make them attractive with many factors, such as jewellery, costumes and other things.’’ Before you raise your eyebrows, do note that it was the view point of a budding artist- Prathibha G, a Class VIII student.   Her 60-70 paintings- acrylic, shadow painting, glass painting, mural works and nib paintings- are on display at the Museum Auditorium here. ‘’I had participated in a group exhibition held here in 2006. This is my first solo exhibition,’’ said an excited Prathibha, a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom.
Winner of many painting competitions, Prathibha is now a student of Chitrakalamandalam in the city. The only child of N.Prabhakaran Nadar, who works with the Department of Agriculture, and Girija Kumari R., who serves with the Government Women’s College, Prathibha is very fond of drawing landscapes also.
She has no qualms about admitting that competitions are important for her.
‘’Whenever I came back empty-handed from any competition, I used to be very sad.’’ Now, she has many laurels to her credit. ‘’And I am very happy that my paintings at this exhibition were appreciated a lot by many people,’’ she said.
She nurtures the dream of becoming a doctor. So, what about painting? ‘’I will not leave that passion at any cost,’’ she affirmed.
The exhibition will conclude on Monday evening.
